It sounded like a distant rumble at first, but as it grew louder and more intense, the villagers began to realize that something was wrong. The sound soon became a deafening roar, and the ground began to shake beneath their feet.
Suddenly, rocks began to rain down from the sky. The villagers ran for cover, dodging and weaving as the rocks crashed around them. But one man, a brave and foolhardy soul named Jack, stood his ground and watched in amazement as the rocks pelted the earth.
As he stood there, mesmerized by the spectacle, one particularly large rock came hurtling towards him. Jack tried to run, but it was too late. The rock struck him on the head, and he fell to the ground, unconscious.
When Jack woke up, he was lying in a bed in the village healer's hut. The healer, a wise old woman named Agatha, was standing over him, shaking her head disapprovingly.
"What were you thinking, Jack?" she scolded. "You could have been killed! Why did you stay out in the open when the rocks were raining down?"
Jack shrugged sheepishly. "I don't know," he said. "I guess I just wanted to see what would happen."
Agatha sighed. "Well, you're lucky to be alive," she said. "But you're also very lucky that something very strange happened while you were unconscious."
"What do you mean?" asked Jack.
"Well," said Agatha, "while you were out, the rocks stopped raining down. And in their place, something very strange appeared."
Agatha led Jack outside the hut, and he saw that the ground was covered in a strange, glittering substance. It looked like...candy.
The villagers gathered around, staring in disbelief at the candy that had seemingly rained down from the sky. They tentatively tasted it, and to their amazement, it was delicious.
For days, the village was abuzz with excitement. People from neighboring villages came to visit, and they all marveled at the strange candy that had fallen from the sky. The villagers named it "rock candy," and they began to experiment with different ways of cooking and flavoring it.
And as for Jack? Well, he became something of a local hero. Despite his foolishness, the rock that had struck him had apparently knocked something loose in his brain, and he suddenly became a brilliant inventor. He created all kinds of contraptions for harvesting and processing the rock candy, and he became a wealthy and respected member of the community.
And so, even though the rocks had rained down from the sky, causing chaos and destruction, they had ultimately brought a sweet and unexpected gift to the village. And to this day, people still talk about the day the rocks rained down and the village was showered with candy.
