Once upon a time, there was a small village where everyone had a strange obsession with digging holes. No one knew why, but every day, the villagers would spend hours digging holes of all sizes and shapes.
One day, a traveler came to the village and asked the villagers what they were doing. The villagers simply replied, "We're digging holes." The traveler was confused, so he asked the mayor what the purpose of all the holes was. The mayor scratched his head and said, "Well, to be honest, we don't really know. We just like digging holes."
The traveler was befuddled, but he couldn't help but admire the villagers' commitment to their hobby. As he was about to leave the village, he noticed a large hole in the middle of the town square. It was so big, you could see all the way to the other side.
The traveler asked the villagers what the purpose of the big hole was, and the mayor replied, "Oh, that's just a hole." The traveler was bewildered and asked, "What do you mean, 'just a hole'? Why did you make it so big?" The mayor scratched his head again and said, "Well, we just like digging big holes."
The traveler was amused and decided to play a prank on the villagers. He took a small rock and dropped it into the big hole. The villagers were stunned when they heard the rock hit the bottom with a loud thud. The traveler then told them, "You know, if you dig a hole deep enough, you can hear the sound of the center of the Earth."
The villagers were amazed and immediately started digging even deeper. They worked tirelessly, day and night, until they finally heard the sound of the center of the Earth. And what did it sound like? A dull thud, just like the first rock.
The villagers were disappointed, but they were still proud of their achievement. They put up a sign that read, "The Deepest Hole in the World – Where You Can Hear the Sound of the Center of the Earth." From that day on, the village became a popular tourist destination, and the villagers continued to dig even more holes, just for the fun of it.
